jmoody 0 Posted February 6, 2007 I like that you were able to isolate this one aspect of The RaceTrack (ie; no mountains or sky or clouds or sunset or whatever in the background). Great long shadows, and perfect detail in the textured ground. Just curious though... is that dark black in the back photoshop? Doesn't seem like it could be natural shadow, but could be wrong. In any case, great shot. Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted February 6, 2007 oops. Just looked at your black and white version and saw the shadow that did this. Excellent choice in making it the background. Very impressive Link to comment
yexie 0 Posted February 6, 2007 Thank you Jeff. My primary purpose of posting the B&W photo of the Racetrack is so that viewers could figure out that the black shadow is real. I guess it worked. Link to comment
smcgregor 0 Posted February 6, 2007 I love the use of the black at the top, which makes the photo look like a lunar landscape. 7/7 Link to comment
laurentbaig 0 Posted February 6, 2007 Very nice. I like the composition and the use of near/far. Well done. Link to comment
yexie 0 Posted February 7, 2007 Thank you everyone! I got this place all to myself that day during the magical hour/minutes. There were a few other souls earlier in the day but they all left before 2 PM. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted February 8, 2007 Wow, this is one of the best ones I've seen of this place..I agree that the black background is perfect for this! Awesome! How do you get photos without footprints? Are there a lot of these walking rocks, and few people there, or do you have to look hard to find a place with no footprints? Link to comment
yexie 0 Posted February 8, 2007 Kim, there aren't that many footprints at all. At least I didn't see that many. I was kind of surprised by that. Guess that people do observe the rule that says don't walk on the lake if wet. I had to look really hard to find the rocks and clean tracks that I liked. Link to comment
