laurent_jaussi 0 Posted February 6, 2007 Excellent...I like its simplicity...the layers below (black, dark gray then lighter)...aesthetic and funny. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 6, 2007 You manage to tread that knife edge again. The approach appears casual but I'm sure is the result of careful calculation. The effect is that of an image glimpsed in passing out of the corner of one's eye. There's just enough grain to carry out the illusion and give the picture a dream quality; any more and it would dissove like a wet tissue. Link to comment
cerealcerebral 0 Posted February 6, 2007 Really nice one amigo, i like the atmosfera in this pic, the lonely post, the birds, nice feelings. Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 7, 2007 Reminds me of a story. Damn I can't remember what photographer it was, but one of the greats. Anyway, he tells about going out shooting and coming back he had one shot left and passing a farm he used that last bit of film to photograph a chicken as he went by. It's a great photograph. I'll try to track it down for you. Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted February 8, 2007 I found it. Countryman of yours, Edouard Boubat. Are you familiar with him? Beautiful b&w photographs, mid 20th century. The photo I was referring to is called Tree With Chicken, 1950. Although it's not at all like yours, the feeling of passing image caught and perfectly realized is the same. Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted February 8, 2007 Jack, thank you. I'm gonna check out Boubat right away and try to find the picture. I'm into great photographers at the moment. Yesterday, I watched a book of photos by Erwitt and another one by Bischof. I'm struck each time by their integrity and dedication to their art, and by the way the greats created what's still being done years after. Tom, thank you very much! For this one, I saw the birds on the string, the posts and the hills in the background and made a half-turn farther on the road to come back and take the picture. As there was a little traffic, I couldn't stop and took the picture as I drove past the spot. Glad you like it. I'm a great admirer of your New Jersey landscapes. Link to comment
alexb_paris 0 Posted February 8, 2007 great lines. Very ''clean/tidy'' picture. I like the mood and the B&W suits it perfectly. I think the 'lines' in the background help a lot as well, a bit of a shot from nowhere. Well done!! Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted February 8, 2007 Thanks a lot Alex! I found it funny when I discovered the picture on my PC. 3 birds plus 1, a 3-wired post plus 1 in the background and 3 layers of hills plus 1 of sky. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted March 2, 2007 I like the composition and tone a lot,Laurent. The 3 are like musical notes. Link to comment
bartimeus1 0 Posted March 21, 2007 Laurent, this is so very simple and yet, also so very captivating. The zone-lines are interesting, as the wires of the closer pole and the wires of the distant pole make own zones. Also the misty and moist weather and the low key approach add a whole lot of mood into the image. Very fine capture. With warm greetings, Alpo Link to comment
