I had post a different crop last night and got some good feedback via email. I would be

interested in any possible comments. I cropped some of the foreground and right side.

Should i crop more?

I have a good feeling about this photo, but I should say it's a mixed bag.

On one hand the graphic extent of the sky with broken overcast is eye-catching. Your choice of B&W has pronounced the forms pretty nicely.

On the other hand, The shot doesn't offer a clear entry point in to the frame. In fact the foreground is too dull and lifeless. The excessively huge shadow clipping

(underexposed) area in the middle has effectively dwarfed the Rockies. The area is so heavy in compositional weight ( gravity) that the eyes get stuck there for a long time trying to make something out of the dark mass. The Rockies are too far to offer texture to engage the eyes. The tension between the vast fore and midground with no elements to guide the optical flow on one side and the graphic extent of the sky on the other side is so distractive that Rockies fall out of eye scan. The tension there is an uneasy entanglement that the eyes try to instinctively find a solution for to reach calmness in composition.

This could sure have been a keeper if you had zoomed in closer on the Rockies.

HI all and thanks for looking. I do have some images that are closer and will go over some of them later tonight and see what I can come up with. I kind of liked the frozen lake in the foreground and some of the compositional issues you raise.
