Can't imagine what improvements to apply to this great shot, Jeff. Colours are just real and highlights are not blown. Actually it's a difficult shot to expose and you succeeded brilliantly.

Was your question a typical "fishing for compliments" one, perhaps?

.-)

No te cabrées que es para pincharte un poco. Unas banderillas de fuego, como se dice en tu tierra matriarcal...

"compliments"? No (though I don't mind them obviously :-), but "comments" yes. I like the natural beauty of this shot, but I had a suspicion that it was toooo "obvious"/boring. As to the exposure, LOTS of trial and error (ah, the joys of digital :-)

Thanks for the visit (and the compliments!)

Jeff, since you has asked for comments and ideas I'll try to satisfy you from your own last comment: obvious/boring: for those loving this kind of 'photo of the place' probably not; I find it perfect and beautiful. But for those more interested in personal and creative approaches, once you have solved all the in situ questions, you have more chances in the lightroom. Suggestions? It may be insolent to say, but I'll try: one idea would be to darkenthe upper and upper-right side, adding some drama and leading the view trough the archs to the background. This would not result in a better shot, just another option.

Bienvuelto Jeff!

Jeff,

I prefer this shot to the other one like it that has an interesting angle but also has some tangent and composition complexity. This one, while straightforward and I?m sure taken a few times, is good because it is the obvious but more aesthetically pleasing composition. I think what you?ve done well is on the exposure. (Hand held?) My only suggestions would be a slightly tighter crop on the top to match transitional proportion. Not by exact measurement but by visual perceptive weight. You could also do this without cropping it but allow for a little burning-in and contrast gain on the front wall. Matching the color variation between walls slightly could help also. And finally since I?m being nit picky, (but only because you asked because I think this is a great shot) It would be nice to see a little more detail in the foreground surface underwater and maybe lighten it more.

This shot would clearly be worth any additional sweetening you may care to spend on it.

Handheld? What am I, a robot? :-) Nope, this was shot on my trusty $50 tripod from a little catwalk viewing area they have. Thank god it was a weekday in the middle of winter though, as I had the place to myself (probably could've waded on in for even better compositions, but didn't want to risk a chance visit with the Spanish Inquisition ("nobody expects the SPanish Inquisition...")

I think I'll probably play with it some more before calling it quits... especially the upper right area where the light and detail are a bit too much for the rest.

Thanks for the visit and the comments. Your opinions hold a very high level of respect for me, and I appreciate every word of it.
