kslonaker 0 Posted February 4, 2007 The background is water - thought it made a nice backdrop (not that I had a choice!). Comments? Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted February 5, 2007 Excellent ccomposition, very good exposure & light,Kim. The background is beautiful. The image looks like a wash-painting. Link to comment
williammccarey 0 Posted February 5, 2007 This is a lovely image spoiled only by the tail-less bird. I do wonder why the contrast fades away at the base of the bird? And I like your framing much better on this image. Link to comment
schneekranich 0 Posted February 5, 2007 the background is wonderful, gives such a dreamy, otherwordly nature to the picture! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 6, 2007 Contrast fades away because of grasses in front of the bird that are out-of-focus. I do have shots with the whole bird, but chose to crop at the bottom to allow more focus on the lighting on his head, plus reduce the distraction from the grass. This was such an interesting bird and I've never seen one before. I hope to find him in the same spot often, but with better lighting (I was shooting ISO 500). It was early in the a.m. Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted February 10, 2007 Interesting shot, Kim, the light on the bird's body is good and I like the background water effect. Link to comment

andrea allison 0 Posted February 11, 2007 Great shot Kim. I really thought you did a great job croping it like you did. You have a great eye for making a good photo into a fantastic one. Kind Regards Andrea Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted February 14, 2007 The soft lighting and background work beautifully here. . . It took me about a year after I first saw this bird to get close enough to get an unobstructed shot. . Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 14, 2007 The bird was very cooperative and let me take lots of pictures; unfortunately, the lighting was very low (early morning) and I had grass in the foreground. But I got to see him up close and they are very interesting birds. Link to comment
jnicholson 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Anhinga is the type of bird? Looks like a brown pelican and a cormorant found themselves together one lonely night. Nice choice of composition. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 20, 2007 Definitely a funky looking bird, Jamie, but pretty cool to see. It's quite big - more like a large heron size than a cormorant. Link to comment
