Yes, clone out the rope. Otherwise, good composition. Poor cardinal needs all his tail in the picture.

Excellent composition, very good exposure & light,Kim. Your model is cute.I also feel that rope could have been cloned.

The "extreme cloning" looks better, but this was a trash picture from the start. You can't post a picture of a fully posed cardinal with half of his tail cut off. I know your work, and therefore, I know you know better than this. I do the same thing on occasion and would expect the same from you or anybody else.

Great shot, but Scott is right. Almost better to fully extricate the bird and place her in a different venue that you can control. Still very good picture, DOF and all. Fortunately, there are millions of birds.

I would say clone the rope, but do not remove the tree branches and tree trunk. You have the bird positioned well and you are showing it in its native habitat. The focus is good, the background is perfectly complementary. The cropping of the tail is unfortunate as a perfect bird shot needs that element. I do think the heavy black frame is too much.

This is not a contest entry; I realize the tail missing is a big deal, but I loved the light and pose. I have a feeder set up at this tree (hence the rope), so I'm sure I'll have ample opportunity during the five months of the contest to get a more "perfect" shot (I hope).

Very good light indeed and the colour of the branches and bg really help the red> The tail will have to wait till next time.

I don't necessarily like the "extreme cloning", but I think that it could do without the rope. I love your shots of cardinals........
