hekate 0 Posted February 4, 2007 This is really disturbing....in a good way, of course. Like every artistic representation that "affects" the body by mutilation & defamiliarization. it makes me think of a strange artist's studio...this Artist can be an adept of hyperrealism or he could be working in Witkin's manner, with REAL BODIES... the textures you used make me think more of the real_body_approach, towards Witkin..However, the image is very haunting and enigmatic, I am very curious though about your artistic/conceptual intention in creating this. why the bicephalic representation ? so many subjects open to discussion..and the visual paradox when looking at it : two heads /vs/ the absence of hands, legs etc.. Is the Artist the aggressor himself? in a schizoid representation ? congratulations! Link to comment
giedlius 0 Posted February 4, 2007 Hello. You said very interesting thing. A few hours after I made this photo I was looking at the Vitkin's pictures (after few years). It was very unexpected discovery because picture was very similar type. Yesterday I was talking about my previous picture with my good friend. He told me that the next thing I should do is to make myself with two heads. I thought why not. It sounds great. So it's like a person with two different ways of live (like my life is). The next thing is that I like antique sculptures that gave me an idea to do this. The surrounding place is simply my room under repair. It's in short. And all this schizophrenia things I don't want to talk about. I think that everybody who looks at my work will see it different. And I think that picture is better when you have a lot of interpretations. The more you have the better it is. This is an open discussion :) Link to comment
hekate 0 Posted February 4, 2007 thank you for the answer. (PS : I did not mean schizophrenia, but 'schizoid' in terms of dualityy, split selves) very interesting processing, congrats again! Link to comment
