I have a tendency of looking right past the couple and into the shop behind them.

There is just too many distractions to concentrate on the couple. If you were able to remove some of the empty glasses in the foreground and blur out the background more it would be more successful.

Matt, if you agree that the subjects should be brought out more (which I do), you might also consider some lighting adjustments.
