Sad, uncertain, a little lost on the world...? Or just shy towards the camera...? - No, these are not about the image and its quality, but interpretations from the boys being... The image is very fine. It has dreamy, "I remember from the past"-feeling.

I enjoyed going through your portfolio. It contains fragments of time that are both beautiful and haunting.

This one puzzles me...The boy looks so alone - empty circles in an empty playground on an overcast, grey day.

Was it actually a glorious summer day with happy, laughing children just out of view of the camera?

Is this a school yard photo? Were the cirlces for fun or punishment?

Just wondering...sometimes it's OK to just wonder, with no answers coming back...

One of the beautiful shots in your portfolio is titled 'Stierberg View.'

Best,

Gerry

Hi Gerry. Many thanks for your interest and kind words. The picture above was taken some 20 years ago in former Leningrad, USSR. Very early in the September morning I was out for taking pictures in heavy foggy weather around the place I lived. Streets was empty and looked unusual and photogenic. I took some 60 shots of empty foggy cityscape and was on the way home. The kid came out of nowhere paying no particular atention to me, kind of starting his dayplay. This was a childrengarden playground. The circles had no particular purpose, maybe were painted for decoration or some play. I saw the possibility for a graphic shot and asked kid to stand in for a picture. He basically was cool, independent and only moderately interested. There were no other people around.

Interesting enough, I remember all this and the boy so good still.

The Stierberg is in Swiss Alps and picture is from last summer. If you go to my Member Page and klick on my portrette in orange frame, there will be a story.

Regards. Ilia.

I missed this one. Really exceptional work. I love how the circles play off the squared-off gate in the background. Lovely, lovely work.

I know not what type of 'game court' this is but it makes for a rather surreal image with the figure standing in the circle. A marvelous portrait my friend! I love the vintage feel.
