anish 0 Posted February 2, 2007 The 105mm is my favorite lens to use at the dunes. There are literally infinite compositional possibilities. Comments welcome... Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 258 Posted February 2, 2007 It looks like a little shifting upwards wouldn't have harmed the composition! This way it is not recognizable what's behind the dunes and seems to be something interesting! PDE Link to comment
stp 6 Posted February 3, 2007 I think your crop is perfect....I don't really want to see behind the dunes, as that would distract from the smooth forms of the dunes. You might also start picking up blue sky. I think you had the perfect sun angle here, because I like the gradations of shadows and light. Link to comment
anish 0 Posted February 3, 2007 Thanks for the comments. Pierre, I agreed with you when capturing this image, as what was behind the dunes was indeed interesting. But after looking at the slide, which included the mountains and sky beyond, I began to see it your way, Stephen, realizing there was too much going on and the image looked cluttered. This crop isolates the part of the image I feel is strongest. Thanks again, Anish Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted February 7, 2007 I totally agree that the mid to long telephoto lens works best for dune photography. This is even more true with the relatively flat dunes in Death Valley, for the compression capabilities. Very good DOF here, and exceptional light. Nice handling of the contrasts too. Probably my favorite of your recent series. Link to comment
