Jack McRitchie 150 Posted January 31, 2007 Mass the troops, defend the city. An imaginative picture. Link to comment

pnital 36 Posted July 7, 2007 Anders, interesting that it reminds me the same form as in my previous comment of your abstract( is it the same location? ). I like L'Arc de triomphe peeping and the whole city life seen behind. nice two images. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted July 7, 2007 You found it yourself ! Yes it is of course the same basin. When the water organ starts playing it is significantly less interesting for a photographical eye like mine. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted July 28, 2007 Thanks Pierre, you are too kind. Such photos can always be improved if you have the chance of a second thought. Look at the far right - the empty space could be cropped. Look at the brown stones just above the water basin - I could have lowered the view to eliminate it from the scene. But I agree ith you the general scene is attractive and maybe even original. Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 264 Posted August 17, 2007 ...in reply: You could have also dug a hole and take the picture lying on the bottom of the hole! Then everything would have been eliminated and avoided! The empty space on the right is of a different tone and color and it brightens the whole image, therefore is needed for avoiding a totally gloomy atmosphere, and the paves are simply there as the Arc itself is! They do not interfere or distract! Maybe you thought of the stones which are some kind of fence! Nothing to it, it goes to them too! Only straightening of the horizontal lines would have been advisable. Just by skewing downwards from the left bottom corner! It would have added to the geometrical perfection versus the real and realistic sight of Paris! PDE Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted August 17, 2007 Pierre, you are of course right. After all I did not do these various actions because I also found the scene and composition agreeable as such. Concerning the skewing I have seen the problem but chose to keep it because is the real angle and the verticals are maybe more important. What I wanted to say was simply that any photo can be improved and that alternative ways of composition are always available. Thanks for your comments. Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted October 25, 2007 Whimsical capture. These "sculptures" make a stark contrast against the background of the city. The calm mood in the foreground seems like an oasis of peace compared to the maddening rush traffic taking place behind. It's also a statement comparing the modern vs the traditional. Looking at it from another perspective, this might seem like an alien invasion. Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted October 26, 2007 I'm convinced that these lights are secrete signs to aliens. They will certainly land one day on Earth and they will land in La Defense. At least this is what the photo tells. Thanks for passing by. Link to comment
