I like this one even better than Opal Fronds 1. The light seems better balanced in this one, and it has a clean and simple background. I'm still just amazed at how the ice formed.

Good eye. The judges preferred this one for almost the same reasons you mention. Background on the other had some sky - made it more busy. In nature shots simple blurred backgound is everything.

The light in this shot transforms this from a beautiful image to and amazing one well done. Rich.
