Though this was a well-seen photo-op, I like the workup version more than the original. My attention is completely centered on your subject without the distraction of the boardwalk. This would make a really fun greeting or note card. I think the frame is okay. Regards.

Well maybe I lack imagination, but I prefer the original. It just seems to me that it has more life to it. And I prefer the greater detail that the colors give the feathers and the beak.

I was attracted to the original shot because of the texture more than the color. These brown pelicans just don't have much, so I tend to play with the shots more. Thanks for the comments, guys.

Very nice image. I like the work with High key. Maybe You could try to leave the little of color of the bird, inserted in the High Key composition...

I don't like too much the big black border. Too important in a gentle image like this.

Your pelican shots are always fun to see. I think the treatment you used really brought the focus onto the bird...in the original, he kinda got lost in all the brown. My only problem with the frame is that the thick, dark border seems to "cage" him in a bit...maybe if there was a little more room in front of him, it wouldn't bother me as much. Just a thought.

Great job Kim, love it. The border/matting is perfect for this and would also agree that it would make an excellent note/greeting card.

Nice conversion to High K, Kim,makes it more interesting than the original, as it gets the whole stage. Nice colors and light, well places on the frame.
