petewelsh 0 Posted January 27, 2007 After trying to capture birds myself I realise how difficult a shot like this is to take.. Hence my ratings for you Scott Well done mate.. :) Link to comment
jautio 0 Posted January 27, 2007 Very good! I'm surprised, I actually like the tight crop - it makes the bird jump out of the frame. Definitely not an easy shot. Regards. Link to comment
tomin8r 0 Posted January 28, 2007 Hi Scott, I concur with the others -- not an easy shot. You pulled it off very well. An "A" for effort for sure! Tom Link to comment
mary fran 0 Posted January 28, 2007 God bless you. The light on that wing is beautiful. If you get any better on these 7's will be too low. Love the pose, color and light you've captured. Link to comment
jmcconnell2 0 Posted January 29, 2007 Great composition Scott! But it just doesn`t have that sharpness that you get with the non-IS lens. Link to comment
di pace 0 Posted January 29, 2007 The crop is way too tight. For this kind of image, there needs to be space in front of and above the bird to give the subject somewhere to move. The tight crop gives the impression of a bird suspended in a small box. The image is also very grainy and blurred, and close-ups need sharp detail. I've looked at other photos and see that flash is being used. The motion-blur could be the result of ghosting caused by slow flash sync; the greater the ambient light, the less light the flash puts out and the combination of light sources will cause a slight blur. therese 0 Posted January 30, 2007 This is what I call, "up close and personal." Breathtaking. I like the tight crop. Increases the tension and intensity of the expression on the birds face. Link to comment
tomin8r 0 Posted January 30, 2007 I think you're wrong. Just wanted you to know that. Scott managed to feeze the bird's head, yet still have some blur on the wings and tail to give you a sense of motion. As far as the cropping goes, Scott is the artist, go with his interpretation.
