The picture suggests so much that I'm not sure what I like best about it... BUT I LIKE IT. Normally a great deal of post processing begins to detract from the subject. People just don't seem to know when to quit...but in this case the final result is just outstanding. 7/6

Very, very overmanipulated, lots of detail lost, and lighting in the sky blown out. As usual I will state: MORE photography up front and LESS manipulation later. And no green or yellow filtration please.

Such condescendence, from some. This, mr Falkenstine, is what the author wants to present/express, as filtered and as distorted as he so desires. I truly don't empathize with those that have the self-assumed authority of dictating what photography should or shouldn't be about. One can understand and explain tastes, but not coercive uniformity.

John Falkenstine - D. Munteanu has made a good point here, there's nothing wrong with the manipulation of a photograph if that is what the photographer wants to do. It is up to him/her how they produce an image; this happens to be a very good example of a well manipulated picture.

To each their own. I like the surreal effect achieved by the post-processing. I think it is very well done in this shot. The bright spot in the sky pulls my eye a bit more than I want it to. But overall I love the coloring and contrast. I'd really appreciate some pointers on how to achieve an effect like this. Great work.
