I like the relationship between house and the car.

I know the 1941 to 1947 Huson 6-Cyl cars well especially the clutch. My father always bought cork from the local chemist to put in the clutchplate holes[Oil cllutch]. He got hold of a 1947 Hudson bakkie and years after he sold it, I found out there were only two in the country.

Thanks for the history lesson Chris. I find this vehicle to be very interesting and photogenic, it's just a shame it has been loaded up with trash. This vehicle can also be seen in 'Journey's End'.

What amazes me the most about your portfolio and these places you photograph are the abandoned houses, vehicles, farm machinery and other relics from the past that remain there, like a museum in a sense. Remember the part in the movie Titanic when the underwater camera aproaches the rusting mamouth wreck and then the scene morphs to the way the ship was in all it's glory. Your photos make me think of how things used to be there on those praires. Great work as always, Clayton!

Hi Clayton. Instinctively, I like this shot. Attractivley framing two subjects is one of the more difficulat compositions to pull off imo, and you've done that. The swatches of snow are what really make this shot work imo. To an image that already conveys isolation, they convey cold as well.

My only nit is the canvas-like texture, I think it distracts not strengthens the image...but that could be taste. Good work as always. Take care, James

Thanks Tom, that's sort of the feel I'm going for. I'm not looking to create art, I'm more trying to preserve these old relics, homesteads and barns. They will soon disapear. I sometimes use a simplifier filter and sometimes a texturizer to add emotion and feel to a shot, but everything you see in my portfolio is pretty much how you'd see it here in Alberta.

James, I'm glad you like the composition. I wish I hadn't cut off the top of the building, but I was trying to keep the trunk handle in the frame and I was also trying to keep the hudson logo both about where it is in the shot and fairly tight so it could be clearly seen. Not seeing all of the top of the building and the trunk handle kinda bug me, but I still think I more or less got what I wanted.

You can feel the desolate condition here, imagining the wind howling and the cry of yesteryear when malls never existed. Tom, your Titanic analogy is very appealing....cheers....Tye.

This is so cold, bleak, and sad. I like your composition, the colours, and mostly the feel of desolation that you have captured. Well done.

Linda
