Young girls have drink them everyone

Oh, when will they ever learn?

Well, Dave, that's one aspect of your genius. You go by a place, in this case a big garbage bin, and see neither despair nor chaos, but an opportunity...with the added (and much needed) bonus of coming up with the appopriate mouth-widenning comment. Godblessed genius. Oh, yeah, that V8 again, eh? Don't mean to hijack your post, but I'd rather see Coca Cola vending machine there - coke is a nasty stuff (Pepsi much less so). Cheers, Micheal

Thanks little buddy. I don't care all that much for Coke or Pepsi, but I wasn't about to change this scene. I have to tell you, the song "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" was running through my head when I came up with that title. I'm amazed that you came up with that. I wonder if anybody else would come up with that. Yeah, we're just blank blank geniuses.

A very good shot, David. I like the tight crop and the arrangement in the geometry of shapes and colours. Very good light and contrast. Beautiful.

Thanks. It was just a grab. This lot behind a fence was apparently a storage place for junk Pepsi machines. There was row after row of them, but these two were in the dumpster. So I climbed up the back of my pickup and shot over the fence.

I got my fill of '60s songs the other night while listening to Mr. Bush sing, "All we are saying, is give war a chance..."

I'm always amazed what you "dredge" up and make a photo out of, always interesting and abstract in an environmental way....but here's a suggestion for this particular subject.....see all that wonderful RED peeling paint, focus in on that, well it is RED isn't it?! Or do a close up of the sign and the red peeling paint.

If I didn't dredge, I wouldn't shoot. It's not like I have all that beautiful scenerey you've got all around you. But as you well know, I take some pride in finding this stuff that 99 percent of the sane world would just walk by and not pay any attention to. That's my little niche in this world I guess. I can see it now, "Dave Meyer Photography--We do insane, mundane and inane. But we do it well." Kind of catchy huh? Thanks for stopping by.

I like the graphics and the colors...excellent clarity...verticals, horizontals and diagonals, you know I like geometrical elements...regards, Laurent.

Good one Dave, you're right that 99.99% would walk on by, not seeing this (or anything else). Takes an eye to appreciate colors dancing a little fandango like this.

As you know, I appreciate commentary in my photos as much as I do aesthetic value. I'm consistently amazed at how much we discard for very little apparent reason. Buildings, houses, machines, you name it. We trash them all. The picture...yeah, I did like those colors too.

Progress is measured in how much we throw away. In my parent's generation (and I'm 63) everthing was used until there was almost nothing left to use. Socks were darned, holes mended, broken lamps repaired. Now we have become a disposable people, things are trash as soon as the new model comes out. Consumption is our God-given right and indeed the duty of every citizen to keep the assembly lines moving at full speed, the profits rolling in. We need disposability. It's the only way we can keep this dog and pony show going.

You are quite right, and I am as guilty as the next. But someday that dog and pony show you speak of will come to a grinding halt. Life won't be pretty then. I fear for my grandchildren. And, yet, I hope.
