jameswages 0 Posted January 24, 2007 I have been expanding my work with models. Please tell me what you think about this photo. Best regards, James Link to comment
ken_james 0 Posted January 24, 2007 hey james, I've seen three of your photos just now. I like this photo overall more than the other two, in part because the face is not so high contrasty. This is all purely subjective, but I don't think most people photograph as well under high contrast light. However, that may not have been what you were going after...There is something unconventional about the subject (most baseball players do not wear mascara), something almost confrontation - and I think that is a real strength here. I mean...what difference does it make if a guy wears mascara while playing baseball (maybe he is supposed to be a hood running around with a bat)...for alot of people it makes a big difference. I like photos that have the ability to 'bother' people...I think most photographers aim to please. I assume this in not necessarily your goal - and I think if more people thought that way there would be more interesting photos being produced. ken Link to comment
jameswages 0 Posted January 24, 2007 Thank you for taking the time to write out such a thoughtful response, I appreciate it. I agree with your thoughts, and I am not too worried about what makes people comfortable or if an image bothers them. I do however care that the model loved the shots, and his wife who is the makeup artist loved the shots and also his agent loved the shots. For that matter I love the shot too, and I think your take on it helped me define exactly why from an artistic perspective. Thanks, James Link to comment
