jh de beer 0 Posted January 23, 2007 This was taken while testing out a 20 year old Nikkor 50mm f1.8 borrowed from a friend, fitted onto a digital SLR - exposure, AF, everything worked like a charm. Link to comment
Dale M 1 Posted January 23, 2007 Can't believe anyone would actually be seen outdoors wearing a hat like that, but you've caught the essence of a real character here! Link to comment
afs760bf 0 Posted January 23, 2007 A great portrait. I might have to go out and get a D50. Will it help me take shots like that? Cheers. Link to comment
jh de beer 0 Posted January 23, 2007 Thanks for your comments. Dale - yup, they don't make them like they used to. Barry - good hearing from you again! Glad you liked it. If you consider the lens it was taken with, I suppose so.... It will cost you a bottle of Old Brown Sherry though. Wait till you see his buddy...... coming up in a few minutes. Link to comment
olafdevries 0 Posted March 8, 2007 Strong composition (!) and.. strong portrait! (me without spectacles) Beautiful colors and skin-tones. For a week, hoera! I'm shooting with a D50. Haha.., here are my first questions on PN! Did you use "Portrait", "normal" or.. "vivid" Or.. a little PS, what I never will use, for may be there's no ending.. and making a choise more difficult. I like as close as real.. (for our eyes)Kindly regards! Olaf. Link to comment
jh de beer 0 Posted March 8, 2007 Thanks for stopping by. I'm a bit confused after reading all of that - but I think I got the essence of it. If I remember correctly, there was no manipulation except the standard levels adjustment, maybe a bit of cropping and maybe some curves, o yes and a bit of sharpening. That is basically my workflow. I like it straight as well, but you just have to make minor adjustments as digital comes out a bit flat and soft soometimes. But I'm not big on alterations (changing the context). See you around.
