Nice shot in all respects Bill. I have a pair but they never get close, they sound like a small construction crew in the woods with jack hammers.

Very nice image. Excellent pose. Nice cropping Almost the biggest woodpecker in the US. (C'mon Bill, you gotta get in those swamps just south of you and get that Ivory-billed WP.) I'd recommend backing off on the sharpening just a tad. I see a faint halo (on this el cheapo monitor at work) around the bird. 6/6

Beautiful shot, Bill. As for size,it's hard to show, with no comparison object, but the male that decimates my pines, has a head the size of an entire Nuthatch.
