mvisionphotography 1 Posted January 22, 2007 Two Years after Hurricane Dennis and Ivan this little Sand Dune is finally making it. I would love to have your feedback please let me know if you are giving me 3's what I can do to better myself ~ thank you! ~ micki Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted January 22, 2007 Hello Micki, I think this is very good, the empty beach looks forlorn and the dark clouds on the horizon are quite ominous. I think you could consider cropping out a little of the sky, it would make the image seem more of a panorama and make the beach seem more immense. Regards. Pete Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted January 22, 2007 I have so many of this sky I will try that with one of the other pictures. This sky went on and on and it was so pretty. I was lucky as my husbands camera (the good one) didn't capture it sense he was trying a new filter (way over my head). I was lucky and just clicked and clicked everything. I was trying to get more pictures of the fences and just loved the sky. The colors really came out much nicer on film than it was even being there. I have a setting on my FUJI (little point and click) for sunsets ~ go figure ;) Thank you! ~ mickihttp://widget.slide.com/redirect/_LDpWp18dhN7xQSBv_j1OBxAO-6maKs6TAh_gb6jqHbO6k0td1a8lDp89eZsahP11o7qEllw6c-etiXckH8kU6BmC0gaq9Puv1nVG9-XmxcWD1CYfOKisI7BHZyU_-ttHsulI7c2o2gMEzcyQ6MfvIHTHTAh9qy_fcSzJa6sdW9Pe6hiJR35vUqgF8H_p0RaY9LiINQwgLnXRY5FYZjJnroXDrgS7Lb0k9FEcrMaFAMU7QYqaE4C3w.jpg Link to comment
nichroe 0 Posted January 22, 2007 If you crop it left, this nice photo would be more impressive Link to comment
j.k._york 0 Posted January 23, 2007 NO, don't crop. the big sky makes this an epic. lots of scale. perfect composition with FG seagrass and midpoint fence as they channel the eye through the frame to the horizon. very nicely done. regards, J.K. Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted January 23, 2007 I really had no clue what part left to crop I loved the big sky and both the sand dune and the fence so I was stuck. It really turned out nicer than I thought it was going. Only problem I had was picking which pictures I liked most. Thanks for the comments ;) ~ micki href="http://www.slide.com/item_finder? referrer=hlnk&pciid=6v218JCmpsI- 4IefD0vHkP1J7xBablmPgR8aMeD6ZMDZFHdxlAQCOOxb5Y8 oQyAq&dir=0"> src="http://widget.slide.com/redirect/_LDpWp18d hN7xQSBv_j1OBxAO- 6maKs6TAh_gb6jqHbO6k0td1a8lDp89eZsahP11o7qEllw6 c-etiXckH8kU6BmC0gaq9Puv1nVG9- XmxcWD1CYfOKisI7BHZyU_- ttHsulI7c2o2gMEzcyQ6MfvIHTHTAh9qy_fcSzJa6sdW9Pe 6hiJR35vUqgF8H_p0RaY9LiINQwgLnXRY5FYZjJnroXDrgS 7Lb0k9FEcrMaFAMU7QYqaE4C3w.jpg" border="0" alt="my face in the review mirror.bmp" title="my face in the review mirror.bmp" /> Link to comment
alainrapoport 0 Posted January 23, 2007 This is a good shot. I wouldn't crop anything, I like it this way. The delicate balance between the grass and the small paddock adds much to the picture. Cheers. Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted January 23, 2007 Ok, so no cropping. Not that i was anyway. Because I love the sand dune and the fence and I have a gillion (not a real word I know) of other pictures without both sand dune and fence. Thank you guys for agreeing with me it needs both of these. This is one of my favorite pictures too! I just loved the sky and how the clouds finger out into the horizon. ~ micki Link to comment
fergi 0 Posted January 23, 2007 Micki- Can you crop me INTO the picture, it would improve the overall look. No, truly, this is my favorite of your beach shots (and the long fence) and I am glad my lens filter didn't work Saturday. Your work was stunning. You raised your own bar. Good luck! me Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted January 23, 2007 you know... because I wouldn't post anything but fences ~ lol and of course YOU taking pictures of sunsets. Because you would have taken MUCH better pictures than these because YOUR camera is better than mine. But, you learn from doing the wrong thing and next time you will take that silly what ever you call that thing off your camera at dusk. :) ~ me Link to comment

fergi 0 Posted January 23, 2007 J.K.- Thanks for adding me into the shot. I love that you did this. You're the best. Thanks for your continued support of both our endeavors. fergi Link to comment
thadley 15 Posted January 24, 2007 Nice shot. I like both the clump of grass and the fence. I also think there is a good proportional balance between the sand and the sky. My personal approach to a scene like this before even picking up the camera is to ask which element (or elements) caught your immediate attention, then I focus on those elements and decide what else will enhance those elements. Of course, as Artist, you have the final say in how you visually wish to express yourself. Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted January 24, 2007 As you can see in my folder I did all three pictures. I loved the sand dunes AND the fences so I did them all. I just can't do JUST sunsets as I love the dunes and the fences almost more for their shapes and such. I appreciate you liking this just the way it is and I just loved how simple it was too! I can't wait to go re-visit it and see how it changes the next time I see it. ~ micki Link to comment
