williammccarey 0 Posted January 22, 2007 You have a very nice focal plane positioned perfectly. I love the sparkle in the eye and the clarity of the head. No glare, no softness. And the wing blur gives motion to the image. Framing would be tough without room to crop...and because I am envious of that 300mm/4 + telextender I'm going to knock you down from 7.5 to 7.0. Sorry. bgeg 0 Posted January 22, 2007 Wow full frame! right up my alley, great shot, I love it. Regards, B. Its a 7/7 in my book, x#$%^&X rating system, Link to comment
Dieter Schaefer 20,136 Posted January 22, 2007 This is the shot I had cropped Eye Level from. Another PN member had seen this on my start page and commented on it, so I wanted to give it a try too. Approaching Pelican was taken an instant beforehand and that image is cropped, of course. Regards, Dieter Link to comment

williammccarey 0 Posted January 23, 2007 This one I like the best. It shows the majestic nature of the bird. Your closeup shows face detail nicely, but I think birds are best displayed in flight. That's why I reserve my 7s for such shots. Now what is the issue with giving 7s? I try to rate anonymously and have found no limitations to the 7s I can give. When I use the Rate tab above, I appear to be restricted to giving only four 7s per day. So why not rate anonymously...those scores count more than non-anon ratings. You have to slog thorugh a lot of crap to find the bird shots, but it is worth it. And have discovered little treasures along the way. Link to comment
Dieter Schaefer 20,136 Posted January 23, 2007 William, I found out about the no limit on 7/7 when rating anonymously a while ago; one can always leave a comment as well. Didn't know about the 4 per day limit but got hit a few time by the two week limit of giving a 7/7 when one was received from the same person and vice versa. You could use "Rate Category" instead of "Rate Recent" to have easier access to bird or nature shots. BTW, you might have missed these pelican in-flight shots I posted a few days ago (please forgive the shameless attempt in self promotion): Fly like an eagle (aahhmm pelican), Coming at ya!, and Hi there!.
