Hi Dieter

it's me. the BOKEH guy. remember? This shot is superb with awesome crisp focus that has brought out every details in those feathers. The background is nicely blurred leaving only a sharp focal plane reaviling those horizontal flow of waves that reinforce the curved outlinf of the bird, helping to contrast it against the background. what an exposure !. Your lens is amazingly sharp. can it be compared to 'L' series in Canon line-up? I reveled in the grace of your vivid shot. You have bagged a striking one. cheers.

Beautiful! One of your best of this prehistoric looking guy! Were you up early or did you stay late? The light was in you favor. Just out of curiosity I would like to see this with about another inch of canvas all around, I would bet that the detail would improve quite a bit. Still a 7/7 in my book, but as you know the stupid program won't let me. Regards, B.

Bill, this shot was taken at 10:35AM so the light is kind of surprising. Attached is an image less tightly cropped on top and to the right; left and bottom I show all I've got. Regards, Dieter

Dieter, I like the looser crop a lot better IMHO the detail is much better!

Wonderful image. This one I would consider hanging! Regards, B.

Arash, sure I remember you; thanks for your comments. I have never used the Canon lenses but would assume that the 300/4 from Canon and Nikon are close in optical quality; the Canon lens is available with Image Stabilization whereas Nikon doesn't have a 300/4 VR in its lineup. Sometimes I envy Canon users for the availability of a larger selection of long teles (like the 400/5.6 or the 400/4 DO) but once you get into the price range of the latter, the Nikon 200-400/4 starts to look pretty sweet too. Maybe some day... Until then, the 300/4, the 1.4x and 1.7x extender have to do. Regards, Dieter
