Henný

lallisig

This is my wife Henny who is a makeup artist and is always with me when I take photos in the studio and most outdoor portrait shoots too.

Threw some flower pot dirt on her after she put some eyeshadow on her face to add some texture to her skin.

Lighting is just a silver reflector + ambient lighting, it?s so grainy cause I shot this at iso 1600.

I liked this shot so much that I later decided to do a series of photos in this style and call the series "Dirty Pretty Things" and use this as the first one.

Any comments and ratings appreciated. I normally have very tough skin

when it comes to critiques though but this is a photo of my wife so I

would appreciate it if you have something negative to say about her

that you keep it to yourself but if you want to critizise the

photography itself, Im all ears :)

Nice work. I like the look in her eyes. Can't imagine anyone saying anything negative regarding your wife.

Interesting concept. I like the contrast. How did you get her so dirty??

I don't think anyone would have anything negative to say about this woman. She's beautiful!! I love the high contrast b/w. It goes great with her hair. Really nice work with DOF and composition.

How'd you get her to wallow in the mud? She must really love you alot. hehe

Really great work here!

This is truely beautiful work - I can't believe she let you throw potting soil on her. You created a piece of art! The DOF is perfect and I lik ethe high contrast in this image - the grain actually works in your favour here! Great job - and a beautiful wife - congratulations on both:-)

I have to agree with most of the previous comments, this is a fantastic shot, but personally I think the eyes are the most powerful image in this work. Really great capture.

Seriously, no one could seriously be anything but complimentary of your beautiful wife...

This look in her eyes is really hypnotizing. Great idea. Have to try it with my girlfriend (Just kiddin' - she would never let me take such a photo of her).

Have you blurred some parts of the image (eg. nose, forehead) or is it just the 'shallow' D.O.F.?

Very intriguing concept and perfectly executed. Tonal contrast is great, cropping is effective, DoF is excellent. Well done. - Ryan

Her eyes certainly 'make' this shot. Captivating! I hope she'll pose for more shots......she's beautiful. You make a great team.

All the best,

An amazing shot. Nothing to add to all the critiques you've already (deservedly) received.

the model is very beautiful, even so dirty. I like tones/contrast, the centered composition and crop works perfect. The DOF is a bit shallow however it brings most of the interesting details. Her incredible eyes and expression gets the attention in the first time, then comes the hair, obviously the dirty, then one figure out her face features, which makes a lot of contrast with the mud.

strange idea for a portrait series but very effective, intriguing. I will now go look through your portfolio to see how she cleans up. : )
