alexander mandl 0 Posted January 19, 2007 Hi Karl, I am not sure about the fire. It takes my attention to fast. And to make it perfect (IMO) the face of the girl behind should also be fully visible... but still a superb street shot... alex (5/7) Link to comment
awaraagard 0 Posted January 20, 2007 karl, this is something very special. a passionate & sensitive shot. all the colors & warmth of love in one single shot. the setting so dramatic & well controlled shutter speed. i love the way u compose this. hidden girl would b a knockout punch if fully visible but stil it adds a lot 2 the over all mood of this remarkable shot. best regards! mary_paul 0 Posted January 22, 2007 this is as natural a scene as any in many developing countries. The woman's hand and ladel slighty blurred, do not distract the eye from her face and that of the girl beside her, or the rich colors of her clothing and jewelry. The pot steaming; the fire blazing bright yellow-orange; earth-coloured walls lit up in the foreground, retreating into shadows in the background, all beautifully captured. Great composition and light. thank you for sharing. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted January 22, 2007 Superb capture that is so well presented of a homemaker. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted January 22, 2007 A good documentation of another world's way of life, so far away from our own and very intricating. Interesting to see how the woman is functioning while breast feeding the baby. Interesting as well to see her surrounding, the kitchen tools, the way she cooks.I wish the woman's face behind her would not be hidden by the arm, but maybe it was not possible. Well exposed, good image Karl. Link to comment
Karl Schuler 48 Posted January 23, 2007 Thank you all for your comments on this photo. I agree that it would be nice to see more from the face of the girl. I have a series of photos from this scene and I could clone the head from another photo to see more of it. Alex, this is not a street photo. It is from the living room deep inside a complex traditional building in Boroghil valley. We were invited to visit the family and spent quite some time there, while the women prepared tea, two kinds of bread, cream and curd. I had the camera on the tripod and shot from time to time a photo without using flash light. The room is very dark. The only sources of light were from a small opening on the roof and the fire. Nothing is arranged in these photos. Karl Link to comment
alexander mandl 0 Posted January 23, 2007 Hi Kalr, I thought that nothing was arranged. but I also thouhgt that it was taken outside the house, but I think I know this kind of houses with the five sqare shaped parts of the roof and the big whole in the middle... I have been in one at Borit lake... Alex Link to comment

thadley 15 Posted April 9, 2010 An amazing image - sometimes we get too carried away with technical and other considerations to extract value of the image - a portrait of life in a country for all kinds of reasons, I am unlikely to visit. Seeing the 2nd girls eyes and where they are pointing is good enough for me. It is true that the ladle and the fire drew my attention immediately and I can't imagine, but I almost missed the breast feeding. Somethings you must take slowly and this image is one of them. Kudos.
