The original was an experiment in high key controlled over exposure,

the result was B&W pencil like drawing (in one of my portfolio

folders). The original color image was way over exposed. For fun, I

wanted to see if I could paint back in the detail lost. Please feel

free to be honest/brutal with your critiques. You help me learn & I

like that. Thanks :)

Hi Jayme, I just bought Painter IX a while back and have yet to install it on my PC - but with this, you have inspired me. Nice job here, but I also have to say that I really like the b&W a lot too. Children are a lot of fun to photgraph, aren't they?

Thanks for the comment. Kids are really a mission :) They never stand still, they rarely follow direction & are constantly making a mess......but that's what I love about them. Their independence to really do & say pretty much anything they like & get away with it :) I guess it's their honesty I love!

I also like the B&W, but sometimes you just need a little color in your life. The original experiment with controlled over-exposure was a learning experience. This little character certainly adds color to my life! Number 3 grandson, of 5 grandsons (no girls allowed :) Just can't get a girl :( Oh well, as I always say "Girls rule, Boys drool" :) Gets a flaming response from my 9 year old grandson :) I just love it!

Now install that Painter IX. 2 tiny bits of information that might just help.

1-Always "clone" (file-clone) & work on the clone of the image you open, never directly on the image. Just doesn't work!

2-Before applying a stroke, make sure your "color" palette is open & click that little thing that looks like a stamp to activate the brush.

For me, learning these 2 little tidbits opened a whole new world :)

I really like this one, Jayme. I don't like the mosaic - looks like worms on his face. Sorry! :) You've really salvaged this one in a great way and made it very appealing.

Thanks Kim & Joan.

Yeap Kim, I agree about the "worms" comment. But This week it's "Mosaic" week :) Just trying out different sizes, styles & images. Trying to find something that works. I am thinking flowers or an image of some old bright blue or pink china? Heck, what do I know about mosaics? :) I laid a flagstone patio years ago, that was a real life mosaic (find the right stone to go in the right place, etc). I think I'd like the digital process better if each piece was varied in shape. Maybe I'll try that! :) Still having way too much fun!
