leroy laverman 0 Posted January 19, 2007 Nice capture. You've gotten a nice angle on the head here. Seems hard to get a decent front shot of birds that doesn't look strange, especially birds with long beaks. I think maybe a little more room underneath to put the bird in the top of the frame might look good as well. Although it depends if one envisions the bird taking off or landing. Regardless it's a well done image. Link to comment
Dieter Schaefer 20,128 Posted January 19, 2007 Leroy, can only do something about that space on the bottom with some work;there is a white building right where this frame ends. Regards, Dieter Link to comment
kent_barry 0 Posted January 19, 2007 Wow! The light is so good here, highlighting the bird's head and the wing's leading edge, while leaving enough detail under the wings and in the shadows. Excellent! Link to comment
williammccarey 0 Posted January 24, 2007 Dieter, your shots are too easy for you! Here is another 7/7. Now go up to Coal Oil Point and catch those Northern Flickers and Bewick's Wrens that used to hang out near the cliffs (don't know whatever happened to the old Devereux School out there, probably a highrise now). And I think you are avoiding the Marsh Wrens in the slough between the airport and UCSB Link to comment
Dieter Schaefer 20,128 Posted January 24, 2007 Thanks, William. Devereux school is still there and hasn't been replaced with high rise yet (the only ones in that area are still the student housing towers on El Collegio). I haven't had too much luck with shooting little birds and many empty frames to show for my efforts. It is really hard to get close enough and to make sure there isn't anything obstructing the view; nevertheless, I'll keep on trying and practice, practice, practice... Regards, Dieter Link to comment
