aepelbacher 0 Posted January 19, 2007 In honor of the fact that I'm going to be spending this coming January weekend in Buffalo, NY I have decided to upload three shots from Virginia Beach this summer when I hung out with Regina Chayer and her son, taking photos all over the Hampton Roads area. It was hot and sunny and gorgeous. We had a great time taking photos together and walking the beaches and the waterfront areas. I added a bit of diffuse glow to this one. The shot was darkish, but I liked the silhouette aspect. Is the effect too cheesy? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 19, 2007 I don't mind the effect. From the thumbnail, it looks like a giant bug! :) Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted January 19, 2007 A giant bug!! :-) You're SOOO right! LOL!! A great way to launch my weekend! :-) Link to comment
pascalagneray 0 Posted January 19, 2007 it's cool. I like the fact that the bottom of the posts seem to get larger as if they want to stand on water...The perspective does that when two posts melt into one. It's the power of this picture...bug, feet, pods, legs, who cares...call it gravity fighting apparatuses if you wish. My only comment would be that the white should be whiter and the wiggly reflection of the posts could have gotten more stage while the sky a bit less. However this is an eye catcher. "cause it's a bug!" a friggin great bug 'cause it carries humans on its back. Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted January 20, 2007 my first thought was it looks something like a bug too. something about the angles of all those legs make it appear to be walking. really like this one!!! Link to comment
laurentlacoste 0 Posted January 21, 2007 This is a rare silhouette! Very well seen an composed! The treatment of colour and the light both emphasize this extraordinary shape. Great capture! Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted January 22, 2007 Awesome job Lou Ann... that seems like ages ago but the photo brings it all back like yesterday. This would look great in a large print, framed and hung in a sweet spot. KUDOS! Link to comment
tylerwind 0 Posted January 22, 2007 Lou Ann--Where ya been? I haven't heard from you in a long time! I like this shot a lot...the lack of background detail gives a very lonely, ghostly feel to the shot, which enhances the mood and atmosphere I think you were trying to create. Great job! colin carron 58,916 Posted January 23, 2007 I like how you have selected the detail here and the 'bug' effect noted above! The reflections are good too. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted January 23, 2007 Lou Ann, your last three pictures show a simplicity of composition that I really like... Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted January 24, 2007 Thanks, Linda! It's one of the things that I'm working on! :-) Link to comment
sky blue 0 Posted January 24, 2007 and with the lapping waves, distant seabirds, and faint chatter that I'm imagining right now... Perfect! Wonderful photo, Lou Ann. ~Sky Link to comment
steven_ej 0 Posted January 26, 2007 Lou Ann, Speaking of Star Wars creatures (see my red hydrant post), I think I see another one :) Very nice composition! Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted January 27, 2007 It just feels cold and like it is rainy. You captured its essence. I like it! The wavy reflection. The mist! Everything! :) ~ micki Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted January 27, 2007 In case anyone is interested, here is a wider angled shot of the entire pier. If you are not familiar with the East Coast of the United States, this pier is a scene that can be found many times up and down the length of the coast. Link to comment
