In honor of the fact that I'm going to be spending this coming January weekend in Buffalo, NY I have decided to upload three shots from Virginia Beach this summer when I hung out with Regina Chayer and her son, taking photos all over the Hampton Roads area. It was hot and sunny and gorgeous. We had a great time taking photos together and walking the beaches and the waterfront areas.

I added a bit of diffuse glow to this one. The shot was darkish, but I liked the silhouette aspect. Is the effect too cheesy?

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!

it's cool. I like the fact that the bottom of the posts seem to get larger as if they want to stand on water...The perspective does that when two posts melt into one. It's the power of this picture...bug, feet, pods, legs, who cares...call it gravity fighting apparatuses if you wish. My only comment would be that the white should be whiter and the wiggly reflection of the posts could have gotten more stage while the sky a bit less. However this is an eye catcher. "cause it's a bug!" a friggin great bug 'cause it carries humans on its back.

my first thought was it looks something like a bug too. something about the angles of all those legs make it appear to be walking. really like this one!!!

This is a rare silhouette! Very well seen an composed! The treatment of colour and the light both emphasize this extraordinary shape. Great capture!

Awesome job Lou Ann... that seems like ages ago but the photo brings it all back like yesterday.

This would look great in a large print, framed and hung in a sweet spot.

KUDOS!

Lou Ann--Where ya been? I haven't heard from you in a long time! I like this shot a lot...the lack of background detail gives a very lonely, ghostly feel to the shot, which enhances the mood and atmosphere I think you were trying to create. Great job!

Lou Ann, your last three pictures show a simplicity of composition that I really like...

and with the lapping waves, distant seabirds, and faint chatter that I'm imagining right now...

Perfect!

Wonderful photo, Lou Ann.

Lou Ann,

Speaking of Star Wars creatures (see my red hydrant post), I think I see another one :)

Very nice composition!

In case anyone is interested, here is a wider angled shot of the entire pier. If you are not familiar with the East Coast of the United States, this pier is a scene that can be found many times up and down the length of the coast.
