Well, I left the "you comment on mine and I'll comment on yours offer" in subtitle of this shot and I really thought it would produce a lot of comments...turns out I'm about as wrong about that as I usually am predicting what people are going to rate my photos! :)

Perfect ligh! Interesting Mood! I like it.

I like the composition very much Tyler. The focus seem a little off as well as a lack of DOF. Was this shot taken with the lens at it's widest aperture? The focus should be on the closest boat and the aperture set to produce the proper DOF, i'm certainly not a pro, just my two cents.

Tom--Thanks for the input. This shot was taken at f/8...I used to shoot with much smaller aperatures but several people much more knowledgable told me I would probably never produce high quality images with aperatures in the 30's and that I needed to be around f/8 to get good, marketable shots. I think I focused on the near boat but I could be wrong. I'm with you in liking the composition but overall this shot didn't thrill me like I had hoped. Perhaps what you are seeing as "out of focus" is the boats moving in the water during the longer exposure...the water was a bit choppy. Then again, it could definitely be my focus was off as well. What do you think about the f/8 aperature? Does that sound like a good plan or should I have dialed it up a bit? That first boat was a fair distance from me so I thought I should get enough DOF but perhaps I was wrong. Thanks again!

some lenses tend to be soft wide open so thats why I asked. F8 seems plenty good to give you the DOF here so it must be either movement or out of focus.
