marcadamus 1 Posted January 16, 2007 Icy textures on Oregon's Alvord desert complimented by dramaticly backlit cloud formations. Thanks for your comments. Link to comment
anish 0 Posted January 16, 2007 i've never seen so many different types of clouds so nicely layered! to me, this works even better as an abstract than as a landscape. very nice top to bottom balance. this stands apart from much of your work in that the first thing that jumps out at me are pure patterns and shapes, and only a moment later do i realize that i'm looking at a landscape. if you were to group your images thematically, i'm not sure where i'd include this one. powerful, but very different... alinux33 0 Posted January 17, 2007 Yes, it's my favorite B&W photo of yours. The patterns in the land has a very strong impact, just on my tastes, and complements very well with the strange clouds formation, never seen something like that. Excellent tonal range! Masterly done it! Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted January 17, 2007 I was actually considering posting it as an abstract rather than landscape. I agree it is very otherworldly, and that's exactly the type of feeling this place always brings to me. The cloud forms were unusual, but the strong backlight really forced the issue and made it work. I do often strive to try new things and diversify my images of nature and am glad to have succeeded here. Link to comment

richard van hoesel 0 Posted January 18, 2007 A spectacular graphic approach to this amazing display Marc. Almost looks like primitive line-art to me. Another variation might have been to line up the main 'circle' on the ground with that in the sky a bit more, although I can see you might not want to do so at the expense of losing the diagonal connections to the corners. In any case, a very fine image as is. The glow in the clouds makes me wonder about the colour version too. Link to comment
dom67 1 Posted January 18, 2007 Hi Marc, the photo makes me speachless, I love the texture with the definitely unusual sky. Nevertheless I think the size of this photo is not able to show the real magnificentness of that masterpiece. On top of that I cannot imagine the color version, which I believe should be even more effective. My best compliments for your unique work!!CiaoDomenico Link to comment
