alan_olander1664878205 8 Posted January 13, 2007 Even though I don't have anything by which to judge the size of the "beaver", I believe this is a muskrat. Link to comment
denislauzon 0 Posted January 13, 2007 You're maybe right, I watch it with my binocular and it was crunching a branch, do muskrat eat wood I don't know. It was nice to watch, every move I was making he was looking up ! Thanks for the comment Alan. DL :O) Link to comment
alan_olander1664878205 8 Posted January 14, 2007 They don't eat wood, but in your photo it looks like he's eating some type of water vegetation. Also, his "fur coat" looks like a muskrat, and he has a small diameter tail. A beaver has a very wide flat tail. Beavers mostly eat the bark and outer layers of certain trees, alders, etc., and water plants. Sometimes from a distance, especially when they're swimming, it's hard to tell the difference if you can't judge their size. A muskrat only weighs a few pounds, a beaver 10 times that or more. It's a nice photograph no matter what it is! Link to comment
