Wife's gone shopping. I'm waiting in our new Civic with my wife's

new digital camera, I'm bored! What to do? This is the result.

Comments\opinions will be gratefully received. Best, LM.

Tristan, Thanks for the overwhelming vote of confidence! :-) Did I say I was bored? As promised, your comment is gratefully received. Best, LM.

You may have been bored, but I think it worked! :) I've converted it to tritones and adjusted the lighting just a bit. Let me know what you think...hope you don't mind.

Leslie, Thanks for tripping over my humble offering. What you've done is most definitely an improvement. I had considered looking at this in B&W but you've iced the cake with your rendition. I may even print one like that. Best, LM.

Well, you were board... your wife was gone, a good play is the restult, only the car is missing.... Leslie really enhanced it with the color.BTW, why do you have to wait in the car? go shooting.... ;-))

Glad you like it. If you want to get your original like that here are the specifics of what I did with your file: first switch to grayscale; then, switch to duotones and actually choose three ink colors to have tritones (ink 1 = black, ink 2 = pantone 421c, ink 3 = pantone 4645c); then choose RGB color so that you can use lighting effects. Now, go to render-lighting effects and choose omni. Your settings should be intensity 14, gloss 100 shiny, material 100 metallic, exposure 0, and ambience 35. I enlarged the circle slightly and moved its center to just left of and below the top of the shifter...in the black area. Hope this helps :)

pretty excellent composition for a bored sitting in the car waiting photo, my friend....I have been in similar circumstances and my output has been a lot less pleasing, trust me.

I like the new bio photo you posted. new to me at least.

Leslie, Thanks for your second input. I'll try to duplicate your settings when I get around to printing this one. Best, LM.

Sean, Thanks. I agree with your opinion. Best, LM.

Bill, Thanks for your thoughts. Yeh, I got lucky! I really like Leslie's rendition & if I ever print it I'll try to duplicate her version. As for the bio photo, it is indeed new, taken recently at the Torrance Barrens by my shooting partner that day, Greg McCracken. Being the first to comment on it you win the prize (an autographed glossy 8x10 of it). Or perhaps, instead, you'd like the second prize, 2 glossy autographed 8x10's :-) Best, LM.

Very well composed and exposed, Len. One of my first shots with my new camera was a speedometer. Also, I must say that is a very well done bio shot! IIDSSMS. (if I do say so myself)!

Greg, I'm well aware of how anxious you were to try out your new Pentax but to have resorted to photographing a speedometer ............well, I feel your pain! Bet one could start a thread on that theme:-) As for the bio photo, clicking on it will reveal a credit to the photographer. Many thanks, Best, LM.
