awindsor 0 Posted February 2, 2007 There is a very noticeable white line along the coast that is coming from a mask issue. Is this a composite of two different exposures (or conversions)? The nice lit foreground together with the detail in the sky and near the sun make this an effective shot but I find the transition too abrupt somehow. Also the reflections of the sky are much brighter than the sky itself. Link to comment
awindsor 0 Posted February 2, 2007 I see that you have used a grad ND but that transition (visible in the ocean) is not really a problem for me (though that does account for the difference between the sky and its reflection). Perhaps the white line along the coast is just a sharpening artifact? Link to comment
les 11 Posted February 6, 2007 Alistair, I am not sure what white line you are talking about - but most certainly I haven't used any masking. This is an almost unprocessed image, single exposure, I also used flash (on a cord, high up, 550EX on full power) to lit the foreground. The transition (dark and light area in the ocean) is not from ND grad: it is a big surf breaking - the exposure was in the order of 10 sec. Close to coast - you just see a lot of foamy water. Thanks for taking time to analyze the image :) Link to comment
