ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted January 7, 2007 Very creative with a certain delicacy to it. I see the 3/3 idiots have been over this one already Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Thank you so very much. It's gratifying to read your comments and see your rating. This helps dispel my perplexity about some other ratings;Ken, not ony the 3/3 idiots ( they are a constant here), but other five viwers rated 4/3. According to logic it should mean that originality is below average: because such an interpretation of the iris is common?, can be seen hundreds of times here and elsewhere?, an iris like this does not offer any new angle, view??? What do I know.these questions will remain unanswered as none of them cared to explain- Link to comment
johne37179 29 Posted January 8, 2007 The 3/3 idiots, are just that -- idiots. To suggest that an image like this lacks originality defies logic. It is long past time that the administrators of this site do something to restore legitimacy to the ratings, or simply shut it down because it is no longer working. I think the problem is allowing anonymous ratings. Who cares about anonymous ratings? I want to know the work and ability of those who are offering their ratings. Intrinsically, there is nothing wrong with a 3/3 or even a 1/1 rating, if it comes from someone with the qualifications to give such a rating. However, the constant stream of anonymous 3/3 ratings without any thought are simply a cancer on the system. Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted January 8, 2007 I usually ignore the rating question and accept whatever comes giving anonymity no value at all. The problem has been on since I came here three years ago and I have really given any hope for a rational or logic solution. This time I commented on Ken's comment because I am a curious person and no matter how imaginative I am, I can't figure out why the originality of this particular image is below average for 8 people. I would have appreciated an explanation on which I might have agreed or disagreed but, at least, there would have been dialogue. Thank you, John. Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted January 8, 2007 I think the anonymous don't follow the rules. I have seen it expained from the administration,"that a Rose beeing a rose, does not mean it is none original"I don,t know where it was written, somewhere" it would be all the artist who paint roses, iris, landscapes portraits are not original. What about van Gogh,s sunflower, non origional? mary fran 0 Posted January 8, 2007 Paula, this is a stunning image and very original. There have been a rash of low ratings on particularly good shots, you're not alone. 7/7 Link to comment
therese 0 Posted January 9, 2007 Superb abstact. Have to agree with comments on ratings. If the site is going to insist on anomynous ratings then it should post a sense of how that person normally rates others. Basically their average rating and the standard deviation from the rating. Is it someone who rates everyone 3"s and 4's? Is it someone who rates 3's and 4's when everyone else rates 6 or 7? It would help if the system would show the distribution of that person's ratings next to their rating. Link to comment
