This very nearly looks like a painting -- great job!

Were it my image, I'd experiment with cropping a bit off the bottom so that the sky fills a larger percentage of the picture. Just an idea -- this is nearly perfect as it is.

The 'fishscale sky' foreboding a cold front on its way, has its analogue in the slight wind 'chop' on the canal, for effective mirroring. This is the sort of concept that escapes so many who strive to take 'pretty' pictures, and hence end up just taking photos that are postcard pretty -- flat water surfaces and that end up as cliches.

This is not a cliche and entirely original for a commonly-photographed and most beautiful subject. This is something that is an entirely new treatment, fresh and something that as a photographer you can proudly say 'I have photographed it differently' than any other. Congratulations.

(On second look, maybe it's just morning clouds lifting, but it doesn't matter at all to me.)

I have to agree with John. I like the fact this is not reflective. You have managed to capture the canal "as it is" and this image stands on it's own merit without any fancy reflection or astounding skies or sunsets. This image is ,simply put, Very well done! Congratulations!

A very melancholic light and an almost lugubrious sky this day on Venice. This vaporetto in the distance seems to take away the end of a love story with an unhappy end. I wish you even though a happy new year. Henri
