I love the pastels and the bright white. I'm still a little divided on the surrounding highlights. Probably because I am too technical. I like the drop shadow presentation also.

I only have a minor observation on this lovely photo: When viewed larger I notice in the top left corner a purple "halo" that I believe comes from over-sharpening in Photoshop (this is barely noticible in smaller view). Otherwise a wonderful shot!

I didn't notice that at all. You are very observant. It wasn't the sharpening tool it was a bit of dodging and burning.

Warm Regards,

Hi Linda,

I love this pic, where did you take it? Are you still in Mississauga? LOL... we're neighbours!!!

Thanks for your comments on my little experiment, I really appreciate it :)

Lovely shot....good exposure and natural color to the snow. My daughter just moved to Calgary with her husband, so now we'll get to visit that area in the winter.....hope to get some shots like this!

Congratulations on such a fine image as well as having it chosen to represent the spirit of the season. I sometimes see similar scenes within the rock cuts of the highways through the Precambrian Shield in my area. However they always seem to present themselves in dangerous proximity to the highway so I have yet to attempt photographing any. You have done a wonderful job of capturing the majesty of the ice and snow we find ourselves surrounded by for so many months of the year. The snow caught in the downpour of ice gives the impression of motion and leads to the illusion that the ice has transformed to a waterfall. Seeing the beauty in your photo will perhaps make me bold enough to try and capture one of these sculptures before the spring turns them into memories of a season past.

I want to thank you for taking the time to comment on my recent photos and in particular for pointing out that my icicle photo was one of the images chosen for last months theme. I have been away quite a bit in January and if not for your comment I would have never notice my image being present in that selection.
