floscal 0 Posted January 5, 2007 Come al solito molto bella. Da poco, ho iniziato a fotografare fenicotteri anch'io in Sicilia, alle saline di Trapani. Sono uccelli molto eleganti e molto "disponibili" a farsi fotografare. A Trapani, pero', la maggior parte sono giovani o sub-adulti, per cui non hanno ancora la tipica colorazione rosa che contraddistingue questa specie. Un saluto. Flavio. P.S. floscal 0 Posted January 5, 2007 In effetti, in molte guide il Fenicottero maggiore, quello distribuito nel Vecchio Mondo, e' indicato come P. ruber. Nel 2002, pero', alcuni studiosi - Knox et al.(2002) - hanno proposto di indicare come due specie separate il Fenicottero rosso del Nuovo Mondo (P. ruber) da quello del Vecchio Mondo, considerato fino ad allora una sottospecie del P. ruber, e chiamato P. ruber roseus. Gli autori, pertanto, hanno proposto la nomenclatura P. ruber per la specie distribuita in Meso e Sud America, e la nomenclatura P. roseus per la specie distribuita da noi, in Africa, ecc. Inutile dire che la nuova classificazione non e' stata ritenuta valida da tutti gli studiosi, per cui c'e' chi usa la vecchia nomenclatura, chi la nuova. Questo e' un episodio che si verifica spesso in sistematica animale, e in sistematica in generale. Il vero problema e' che ancora oggi e' difficile stabilire senza ambiguita' e con criteri oggettivi cosa sia una specie... Un saluto! Link to comment
