williammccarey 0 Posted January 3, 2007 Very nice image. The Purple Gallinule is very elusive in my area. Still haven't seen one after five years of looking. This is a well done photo. I would suggest cloning out the two wihte things in the lower left and lower right as they are distracting. Otherwise, very good shot. 6/6 anon Link to comment
Marvin 4 Posted January 3, 2007 William, Where are you looking for the Gallinule? They're pretty common at Wakodohatchee wetlands in Delrey, Florida. It is a challenge though to catch them out in the open and not hidden in the grass. Link to comment
williammccarey 0 Posted January 5, 2007 Marvin, I look for these birds in the Central Valley of California in the wetlands and wildlife refuges. They are reported on occasion, but out here they are very shy and elusive. Link to comment
Marvin 4 Posted January 5, 2007 William, If you ever get to Florida, the Palm Beach Water Company has flooded and planted two closely placed sites in order to attract waterfowl. There are also boardwalks that pass through the sites for bird watching or just walking. It is in the city of Delrey (about 30 miles north of Ft. Lauderdale). The sites are called Green Cay and the other is Wakodahatchee; you can look them up at the website of the water company. Link to comment
williammccarey 0 Posted January 5, 2007 Thanks, Marvin! I'll add the info to my collection of places to bird when I finally get retired (this year, I hope). Link to comment
