I'm still surprised of the tones you use. That's how I would have see it, just to show what I mean.

thanks for your comments. I still use film and have always printed in the dark room. Only recently I started to scan and I have to improve. Did you simply increase the contrast? Indeed in the dark room print the tones are darker. Many thanks for any advice. Heinz

Increasing the contrast is definitely not the best, because you'll get very hard tones. You have to learn how to use "level" tools that you'll find in Photoshop, or any other picture correction software. Photoshop Element is much enough to start. It's really nothing really complicated for somebody used to the darkroom.
