aepelbacher 0 Posted January 3, 2007 I spent some time in Old Town Alexandria the other afternoon. A few days ago I had noticed that many of the historical homes in this area (some even date back to the Revolutionary War era) had beautifully decorated doors and windows for the holidays. Not with lots of bright lights ... but mostly with pretty wreaths and greenery around the windows and railings. I'll post a few of the shots over the next few days. They're very difficult to "straighten" out because the houses are not straight, the streets are built on hills (going down toward the Potomac River) and the sidewalks and front door steps are usually crooked. BUT, since many of the doors are modern, they are level. So I tried to use the doors to help get the right perspective on the rest of each image. There wasn't any spectacular color in this ... the walls were white, the star was silver. So I thought that B&W was appropriate. This is the last door ... well, maybe for this holiday season ... who knows, maybe next year, I'll resurrect some of the images that you haven't seen here. :-) Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted January 4, 2007 I love the door series! I had actually thought of doing this, but never got around to it...I'm so glad you did! I think classically decorated front doors are really wonderful...they make you want to step inside for a while. Very inviting. This b&w is my favorite, but I'm not sure why. I would have thought I'd prefer warm inviting colors and although I really like those as well, this one stood out for me. Very nicely done. Great series. Leslie Link to comment

aepelbacher 0 Posted February 23, 2007 I don't think that anything Texans do is secret. :-) And, yes, there are a lot of Texans in Northern Virginia. We can smoke 'em out because they are the ones wearing the cowboy hats with their tuxes. :-D Thanks for the visit! Link to comment
