dangoldman 0 Posted January 3, 2007 very cool. I've actually been wanting to do a similar shot like this as well. Can you give out the technical details (speed, aperture)? I wonder how this would be as a B&W? I also wonder if you could, with a wide enough -properly placed-lense if you could capture the whole pattern? Link to comment
stormphotonet 1 Posted January 3, 2007 Thanks Jim, Rashed and Dan, I have been working this shot in my head for years and then we had 9-11 and I put it to bed for years. This was my first try at it and before shooting got clearness to shoot it at the airport. It was shot from the top of the parking garage at Dallas Love Field and is a Southwest Airlines plane. I now need to go back and try to shoot from lower in the garage. And want to shoot some departures, I want to get the jet lights above the buildings. The exposure is just trial and error. The challenge is to get the shutter to stay open long enough to let the jet fly into the frame. I have some filters that I will use in the next day or two when I shoot it again. And I will look at other angles to shoot it from. I think this was at f-22 and 45 seconds. Hope that helps and I look forward to my next attempt and post of it. Best wishes, Ken Stormphoto.net Link to comment
dangoldman 0 Posted January 3, 2007 45 seconds? doh, it just figures that i loose my remote trigger today since i accidentaly left it outside last night to find it in the driveway soaked in rain.... Thanks for the info though, i'll have to drive down to the local airport and give it a shot. Link to comment
stormphotonet 1 Posted January 3, 2007 Sorry to hear that Dan I left a lens on a dirt road in northern Oklahoma on a chase sometime ago. And it was my favorite lens. I look back now and lol but at the time it was not all that funny. Anyway let us know how you do, good luck. Link to comment
dangoldman 0 Posted January 3, 2007 an RT is cheaper than a less by a long shot, im not too heart broken about it. just feelin' kinda stupid. I played around with this in BW and i got some pretty cool results by playing with the color curves to make the runway/taxiway lights and the green lighted building in the BG pop out but also to minimize the lighted parking area. I'd give it a shot. Link to comment
