markboyer 0 Posted January 1, 2007 I like this one a lot esp. the shape and the richness of the colors. Link to comment
pjduncan 0 Posted January 1, 2007 I like the idea, and the lighting, colors, sharpness are superb. The one suggestion I have is doing something different with the centering of the container... such as cropping one side or having it off center. Link to comment
edward_wright1 0 Posted January 1, 2007 WOW! Another example of Black on black contrasts that combine to enhance the colors that any other way could have become less the elements of focus. This makes for a great wall picture. Very creative without going overboard; nicely done. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 1, 2007 I want to keep the curve of the "bowl" in its entirety and keep it symmetrical. Since the flowers in the middle are different shapes, I feel this works. I know the "rule" is to off-center compositions, but rules are made to be broken. Thanks for visiting and offering your comments, everyone. Happy Shooting in '07! Link to comment
stp 6 Posted January 2, 2007 Kim, I agree with your own assessment. This is very nice, especially with the bowl showing only a few lines of light. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 2, 2007 Here's what I started with - flowers in a wine glass. Used some layers and other filters to get this final product. Link to comment

andrea allison 0 Posted January 2, 2007 Beautiful color and light. I really enjoy your work Kim. You can really break out and experiment and explore with your idea's and feelings. Something I love in this area of photography. Kindest Regards Andrea Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 3, 2007 Thanks, everyone. This is another in my series of distorted flowers that I like to do. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted January 3, 2007 Interestingly, though, it doesn't look like a "distorted" image at first glance. It looks like you took it from a strange angle, as if the flowers were sitting (without stems) in a very shallow bowl. Very interesting what you got here from the original. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 3, 2007 That was why I posted the original, Lou Ann, because everyone was describing the "bowl", but really it's a wine glass. I distorted the arrangement first, then put some of the original flowers back into the composition. Just playing, as usual. Thanks for visiting! Link to comment

cherlyn 1 Posted January 7, 2007 I like your "rules are meant to be broken'. I don't follow rules strictly as well, but my instincts. I like the subtle lightiing that accetunted the bowl's curves, mking this still life floral shot different. Link to comment

jimmcnitt 0 Posted January 7, 2007 Bright and peaceful. I love the way you managed to keep the feel of light reflecting off glass in the swirl. --jim Link to comment
