colin carron 58,916 Posted December 29, 2006 The Norwegian sailing ship 'Nornen' was driven ashore in the Bristol Channel in a gale on the night of March 2nd 1897. The Burnham lifeboat was launched with a crew of 10 oarsmen. By that afternoon the whole crew of the Nornen, 10 men and their dog, had been rescued but the ship was a total loss. It has lain stuck in the sands for over a hundred years. Here a rain shower has just passed and a rainbow appeared with the falling rain visible against the sunlight. All comments welcome! hexenwolfe 0 Posted December 29, 2006 Technically a beautiful and well made image. Artistically it is well done also with lots of unspoken and implied back-story and emotion. 7/7, A+ in my class. Link to comment

Landrum Kelly 64 Posted December 29, 2006 Absolutely stunning, Colin. Surely one of your very best ever, with the threatening sky a reminder of what caused the wreck in the first place. --Lannie Link to comment

paula grenside 0 Posted December 30, 2006 This is eerie, Colin. I seems the rainbow is dripping its light and the relics appear as if inhabited by ghosts: it made me think of Coleridge. Wishing you a wonderful New Year full of peace and beauty. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 30, 2006 Thanks Paula! The 'dripping light' is the sunlight on the raindrops as they fall from the clouds. Happy New year! Link to comment
