Black-crowned Night-Heron

Hello Jerry, this is a beautiful capture. How close were you? I only go up to 420mm and don't know the bird, so I have no real feel for this, other than the fact that I like it.

This was taken using my beloved Nikon 500mm/f4P + Kenko Pro 2X converter so that makes it 1000mm (1500mm film SLR equivalent) and I was about 35-40 yards away from this night heron. Night herons are commonly seen around Bay Area but I've never seen one when I lived in Ohio. It's about the same size of snowy egrets.
