Superb sharp close up of the brown pelican. This one is the Pacific pelican because of the red splotch. Its Atlantic cousins don't have this color.

Have a great holiday season and thanks for the comments and critiques in '06,

Wow Dieter, tack sharp in flight shot. Excellent details and dof. You definitely caught a great pose of this pelican from the perfect angle.

great capture, Dieter. It does look very crisp in the larger view. Merry Christmas to you and your family. May Joy, Peace, Hope and Love reign.

Great shot Dieter. You can remove the small dark spot just below the belly with the 'spot healing brush' in photoshop. I think these spots are due to dust on the CCD. I see the exact same kind of spots in my camera as well. They always appear in the exact same location so if you look at several photos of the empty sky you should see the spot every time. Note f/# seems to change the appearance of these somewhat as well. Not a big deal and easy to remove.

Merry Christmas.

Thanks, Leroy, for pointing that blotch out; I actually hadn't noticed it. Will need to check/clean the CCD sensor. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
