Here's another shot from my coverage in the 1960s of life in the

mining country of Eastern Kentucky. The only future for these young

I recall a number of years ago, driving into a little mining community in Harlan County, there was painted on the side of a brick building in large letters, "Welcome to Hell".

This picture really captures the real meat and gristle of the era. Outstanding photography and certainly worthy of a place in my favorites.
