Phalenopsis "Bachmans New Century.

crashdog

This photo was taken in my basement about 6' in front of a black backdrop. It was shot with the Novatron 240WS fun kit for lighting. There were two lights set at equal power about 1.5' back from the flower. This was shot at F16 with the 105mm lens from a distance of about 1.5 '. This image was scanned from the negative using a HP20s at 2400lpi. The photo was color corrected and cropped in Picture Window Pro 3.1 (eval copy).

Yes I'd sharpen it a little (although its pretty sharp already in my view). The other thing I'd do would be to remove the green sprig that goes nowhere and distracts from the petals. My only reservation however is that the black background being so very strong for isolation purposes creates the appearance of the orchid floating in a large black hole. So I think to reduce this effect I'd then crop to the point where I felt the flower didn't float but was supported by its stem.
