marcadamus 1 Posted December 27, 2006 Here's what I think. Most viewers on Photo.net are incapable of appreciating subtle beauty. Mostly 4/4's for this beautiful image that we both know was one of the most popular on a much more prestigious landscape photography site. People here want drama, ridiculous color and heavy manipulations and completely overlook the difficulty and special vision it takes to render an image like this. This is exactly the type of shot that only serious landscape photographers and the few who have taken the time to enjoy similar places can appreciate and I think it is absolutely wonderful. ricklundh 0 Posted December 27, 2006 You couldn't have said it better, Marc. I still wonder why I ask for ratings. I understand why you dont, and I've contemplated doing the same. I guess the reason I still ask for ratings, is the exposure I get on some of the images that make it to the top rated ones for 3 days. I figured that this image wouldn't be fully appreciated by all the oversaturation/manipulation junkies on this site, but I can't fully relate to their thoughts. I really appreciate your comments and thoughts here Marc. Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted December 28, 2006 Marc hit the nail on the head. This is not the kind of beauty that is going to make a blip on this website. The ratings for originality are particularly ridiculous I find. Great subtle shots like this unfortunately will never make it to the TRP so it may be better to post for critique only. Link to comment
ben heaven 0 Posted July 21, 2007 What a beautiful photograph, and perfect composition. i love the way you have captured the fallen leaf on the far left hand side (in the fern). the dark trunks moving snake-like toward the top of the frame, and the reds and oranges against the greens. stunning work. i would love to se this as a large print. thanks for the inspiration, cheers, Ben Link to comment
