pnital 36 Posted December 18, 2006 Changing of seasons Len, very well presented in this image, the different form of bare trees, the end of flowering, the " muted" colors.well composed, good exposure and light, depict the atmospher. Happy holidays Len to you and yours. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted December 18, 2006 Len, I envy you the seasons. I think you've captured the mood well in this shot. The bare branches and muted colours go beautifully together. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 19, 2006 Pnina, Thanks, nice to hear from you again. This was in large part a test to see how Velvia would treat a rather drab scene. I'm pleased with it. Best, LM. Jeff, I've often thought that living in a sunny, tropical\sub-tropical climate would be nice so I could get those rich blues & greens and other colours all year round but the four very distinct seasons in this part of the world have their own charm and certainly keeps me on my toes adjusting to the changing environment. Excuse me but I have to go, I think it's about to snow:-) Best, LM. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted December 20, 2006 B&W would be too busy, but color really adds structure, very nice subtle colors. Link to comment
greg mccracken 1 Posted December 26, 2006 Great study of textures, Len! I like the hue in the upper right as well. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 26, 2006 Carsten, Yes, I tried B&W on this one & found it to be too busy. Everything seemed to take on the same tone. In my opinion colour was the only way to go here. Best, LM. Greg, I was sure you'd appreciate that old White Pine in the upper right. It was that element that first attracted me. What would you (or anyone else) think about a camera position a little more to the right to give it more prominence? Just a thought. Best, LM. Link to comment
greg mccracken 1 Posted December 30, 2006 I don't know about moving more to the right. It looks like you have captured the "Golden Mean" in your composition. See this link.. http://www.photozone.de/4Technique/compose/goldenmean.htm Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 30, 2006 Greg, Thanks for the heads-up on Photozone. Got it bookmarked now. I see the logic in your explanation. I'd heard of the Golden Mean of course, but never studied it. Perhaps it's intuitive for most, ie: the thing that makes a composition just look right without dwelling too much on the 'why'. Stay loose. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 31, 2006 Last critique request of the year 2006. Your thoughts\comments will be gratefully received. Spotted in Sunnidale Park, Barrie, On. Thought it worth at least a frame. Best, LM. Link to comment
