kslonaker 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Compilation of three images. Same sleeping kitty with alternate profiles (he sleeps soundly!). Comments? Link to comment
vdhamer 0 Posted December 17, 2006 Nice. To make things more challenging (and to make good use of the books), try showing the entire cat. This because the bottom of the books and the bottom of the cats do not allign: are the books floating above the book sheft or are these stuffed cat heads? Simplest solution is to move the books down and show only the top half. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted December 17, 2006 I see what you mean, Peter. I did not have the entire cat in the shots and came up with the concept after looking at my kitty profiles. I'll have to play with this one some more. He sleeps very soundly, so I can probably get some full body shots next time and try it again. Thanks for the comments. Link to comment

donnaalbers 0 Posted December 18, 2006 Great creative work with a sense of humor, Kim. . I like the fact that the bookends are not identical. . Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted December 18, 2006 That's what gave me the idea in the first place, Donna - I had two opposite profiles and thought there must be something I could do. I showed Ed both of them and he said "Bookends" and that gave me the concept for this. Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted December 18, 2006 Excellent, Kim... this is very original and cute! BTW, have you read all these Photoshop books? I've always envied your PS skills... Probably these are the secrets behind your masterly skills. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted December 18, 2006 I wish I could tell you I've read them all cover-to-cover, Brad, but I usually look just at the specific things I want to try and attempt them. Most of what I learned was from trial and error, but I definitely learned a few things here and there from the books. I keep thinking I need to sit down and try each technique at least once, but just don't seem to have the time. Link to comment
thomas_collins1 0 Posted December 19, 2006 Kim, Olga and I were just browsing through your collection and had to stop by and say that this one is just great. Love the concept and the kitten on the left has an Egyptian sphinx look going for it. Big smiles!! :-) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted December 19, 2006 I guess that's his best side then, Thomas. Same kitty, different profiles. He's definitely a keeper. When I eat breakfast in the morning, he gets up on my shoulder to watch me on the computer. He's going to outgrow that in a hurry!!! Link to comment

thomas_collins1 0 Posted December 21, 2006 Your making my wife go "ooohhhhh" far too much for my taste! Our old cat is no longer as cute as this one. No trips to the pet store for my wife! Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted December 21, 2006 Clever, original, fun. Best wishes for this Holiday Season, Kim. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted December 21, 2006 Thanks, everyone. Thomas, remind her what a pain kittens are! Ed was just saying he'll be glad when Toby is no longer a kitten! I have little marks up both arms from him "playing" too rough! He's adorable, but it's like having a 2-year-old around! Although, I have to say, kittens are much easier than puppies. I swear we will never get another puppy; only a dog over a year old. Our Lab/Retriever X brother & sister chewed half the outside of the house before they outgrew that. Link to comment
